Holíč Castle is a Baroque manor house and a historical landmark in Holíč, Slovakia. The manor house was built as a summer residence by the Habsburgs in the 18th century. It replaced an older military fortification dating back to the 12th century.
The original stone castle was built on the Moravian-Hungarian border in the 13th century as a border fortress. The location remains a border area in the 21st century. The site is located in Slovakia, approximately 1 km from the border with the Czech Republic and 25 km from the border with Austria.

There are two rotating mills, with a couple of millstones each are driven by the River Fílveda and are located in the oldest nucleus of Vilarinho de S. Roque. The ruined church of St Thomas a Beckett in Heptonstall, West Yorkshire, England. It was built between 1256 and 1260. The “new” church of 1854 was built after a storm damaged the old one, and it shares the graveyard. The American poet Sylvia Plath is buried there.

For MacroMondays two bells corroded by time. For years, it has adorned the Christmas wreaths that stands on the outside of the front door.
HMM!
I’ve been wanting a chance to photograph this barn for many years now. It was down a residential farm road with strict no trespassing signs posted on the gate. Well, recently they must have sold the land to developers as the gates are torn down and they are clearing the fields to make way for new homes. This barn is one of the last remaining signs of life on these acres of land. I’ve been going pretty much every night hoping for a good sunset.
-- - UPDATE
I went back again last night in hopes of some thinning high clouds during sunset to get another take on this old structure. I came away with two new takes that I want to share with you. Here is the first.

An old one room schoolhouse in rural Matheson Ontario. My Dad attended this school from 1933 until I think 1940, and prior to that my Grandmother from what I understand was a teacher in this school. It was located a short 2 mile walk from my grandparent's homestead. My Dad would walk this route to school in temperatures during the winter as low as -30c. If I remember the story correctly, he had to walk uphill both ways lol :-)
From my capture of an old antiques museum, complete with resident black cat:-)

I was reminded of this painting by Levitan, who did mostly landscapes but also included structures in some of his paintings. When i saw this, i thought, the scene needed a cat:-) My version of a rural structure, did in fact have a resident cat:-)
