Summer's gentle breath, at last, draws near,

With golden rays that banish winter's fear.

The world awakens, bursting into bloom,

As nature dances, casting off its gloom.

The air is filled with scents of fragrant bliss,

A symphony of colors, nature's kiss.

The vibrant greens, the ocean's sapphire hue,

Invite us all to bathe in skies so blue.

Beaches beckon, with sand between our toes,

As laughter and joy from everyone flows.

Ice cream drips and pools in warm sunlight,

As days grow long, embracing pure delight.

Picnics in meadows, shaded by tall trees,

Whispered secrets carried on the gentle breeze.

Fireflies twinkle, a magical display,

As twilight paints the sky in hues of gray.

The chorus of birdsong greets each new day,

While butterflies flutter in a whimsical ballet.

Crickets serenade under moonlit nights,

Embracing summer's enchanting delights.

Oh, sweet summer, with your warmth and cheer,

You bring us memories that hold so dear.

A time to rest, to wander and to dream,

Embracing life's beauty, like a sunlit gleam.

So let us celebrate, with hearts sincere,

For summer is finally here, my dear.

Let's bask in its embrace, with boundless glee,

As nature's masterpiece sets our spirits free.

With no rain for 12 weeks and temperatures pushing towards 40 degrees at times the New Forest heathland has taken a battering with only patchy colour in the heather - normally transformed to purple, now burnt and dead-looking largely. It has also meant tress and ferns dressing for autumn a couple of months early so where there is summer colour it leads to a strange, but attractive colour palette. More worrying is that I've seen much less birdlife and wildlife than usual - perhaps its just me? It does make you wonder what our seasons are going to become as climate change seems to gather pace.
