The
2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development represents an historic agreement among Member States of the United Nations for people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership. Its 17 sustainable development goals (
SDGs) are to be achieved by the year 2030.
Biodiversity and healthy ecosystems are a foundation for sustainable development, and thus play a key role in supporting the achievement of all 17 SDGs, including and beyond SDGs 14 and 15 which address life below water and life on land.
