What's New?
24 October 2023 - Activities have been undertaken by the Secretariat to update the Online Reporting Tool located on the CBD CHM to support online submission of national targets, due by 2016, and of the seventh and eighth national reports due respectively in 2026 and 2029. A side event on the tool was hosted by SCBD at SBSTTA-25. A notification on the updated online reporting tool will be issued to Parties shortly.
In
decision 15/6, Parties are requested to submit their
seventh national report by 28 February 2026 and their
eighth national report by 30 June 2029, to enable the preparation of the global reviews, as per Article 26 of the Convention, using the template provided in
annex II, recognizing the specific challenges faced by developing country Parties in preparing and submitting their national reports in a timely manner, and the need for enhanced international cooperation to support them accordingly.
Parties are also requested to use the monitoring framework of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, adopted in
decision 15/5, in their national reports, supplemented, as appropriate, by optional component and complementary indicators also included therein and other national indicators.
Data Reporting Tool for MEAs (DaRT)
DaRT is the
first tool supporting Parties to effectively use synergies in the field of
knowledge and information management for national reporting to biodiversity-related conventions. DaRT is being developed by UNEP, with the support of SCBD, and was endorsed by the InforMEA Initiative which brings together MEAs. It is financially supported by the European Union and Switzerland. Bioland Tool
The Bioland Tool is a turnkey solution that can be used by all countries, no matter what capacity constraints they are faced with, to establish a basic operational national CHM website which,
among other things, can effectively facilitate NBSAP implementation. This turnkey solution uses the Drupal content management system (CMS) and is available at no cost to countries. Click
