[Acknowledged by Flickr Staff] Manage Your Members Search has disappeared

Leo Reynolds says:

Group page > Administration > Manage Your Members > Members

The members page is no longer showing a Search box.

Is this a bug or has the search been removed?

Worse(?), the pagination for that page appears to be gone. Only the newest 25 members are listed.

This is unquestionably a bug; suggesting that (hopefully) the above also is only a bug.

I can confirm the same bug in all my groups. Most of the members list is missing and it's not possible to search for a member.I hope this one gets resolved fast.

It'd be difficult to administer groups without these important parts.

Definitely yet another major problem with no end to the recurring problematic, inadequate coding in sight. This needs to be rolled back by the end of the day.

I have the same problem in all my groups too. No wonder it's so difficult to invite anyone using the horribly inadequate Activity page !! Come across someone you think might be a member and I can't find him / her, as I can't search plus have to go onto the person's phototostream to find the Flickr name. There has been a noticeable decrease in the number of people posting. I am not surprised.

I see this, as yet, has neither been repaired or even acknowledged by Flickr staff on the Help Forum. This is despite it being brought to their attention over 12 hours ago - probably because it only really affects administrators of Groups

I saw the engine having bug problems early Monday morning. - I know how to get around it to see older pages by using the right URL but not search for individual members. I have been admin and now moderator of Flickr Nature - it was an inactive admin group that was given new admins this year and I was removing members that had added photos that weren't nature ones a long time ago. The bug started happening right when I was using the search engine. :-( I have seen the bug in every group I am either admin or moderator.

C-Aida:

The only work around that I know of to find a particular member is this one:

www(dot)flickr(dot)com/groups/(groupname)/pool/(member URL ID)
This isn't their member name but the unique URL ID in the url link at the top of their photo stream page. Unless the member has created their own unique ID, then their URL ID has numbers then the @ sign then a letter followed by two numbers.

This link brings up all the photos in a group that have been submitted by that member. Each photo has an X in the right hand corner and to the left are three dots. The X can be used to remove the photo. From those three dots there are options to remove the member and their photos. I have tried the dots but didn't work the last time I tried.

If anyone is needing to remove a member, please try using those three dots and see if that works and let the thread know.

Also if a member has left the group but left their inappropriate photos behind, this url link will bring up all their photos to remove them if needed.

I use for that a very old userscript which give to to me the possibility to give to an user some custom color flags i choose .

You can test it here (with my detailed explanation):

Flickr Functional Suite - Update 2014 [GitHub]

It's an working update of this one (Here the old description by its author of it):
Flickr Functional Suite By Charles Tilford [/userscripts-mirror.org]

In my case, i chose a color flag for each pool i have and another color flag when i invited it to post in it

The same problem with our 3 groups.
Only ONE page of members is displayed.
No search for members possible.

Without these possibilities we will dissolve the groups or lock them completely and give up Flickr, because our main area is the groups.
We have enough other options for our photos themselves.

If you can find one of their photos in the group pool, you can ban them from there. Hover over the photo (on the group pool page) and look for the three-dots menu in the corner of the photo.

Kat-Renee Kittel says:

Die_Knipser:
You can still remove members - the option still shows in the list.

Also you can remove members by using the three dots that show on a photo in the upper right of the photos they have in the group.

To find photos that a member has placed in the group, please use this formula.

www(dot)flickr(dot)com/groups/(groupname)/pool/(member URL ID)
The easiest way to start is by clicking on the Photos Page and then just copying and pasting the member's URL ID at the end.

This isn't their member name but the unique URL ID in the url link at the top of their photo stream page. Unless the member has created their own unique ID, then their URL ID has numbers then the @ sign then a letter followed by two numbers.

To view other pages, this work around can help:
Insert your group name and page number where indicated. Place a period where you see (dot)
www(dot)flickr(dot)com/groups/(nameofgroup)/admin/members/?page=(page number)

I hope this helps. If you have an idea how far into the group list this person is on, their name can be found by searching by page.

I understand though and we need to know what is taking so long to fix the bug.

mag3737:
I'm only saying when I saw the glitch occurring, because at first since I was using the search engine at the time, I thought it was a problem with my browser not showing all the sections of coding on the page. I asked another admin to check their computer. When I knew that it was universal, I came to the forum to find out how to report and that's when I saw the situation had already been reported.

By the time I found out it was a universal problem it had already been reported by someone else and this thread was created and that was sometime late Monday or early Tuesday.

Apparently the bug is more complicated that it is taking awhile to fix without affecting other coding.

I'm not bitching, just figuring things out. I came here to offer some temporary work arounds - which I did. Not complaining. :-)

A gross over-exaggeration. Bugs are likely prioritized in the order of severity, the number of members affected and a number of other factors including whether there is a workable way around the issue (which there is here). Groups are, of course, a popular feature of flickr, but only a small percentage of members are admins or mods.

John Laughlin Photography:

The admins and mods of any group are easily seen on the group member page, for instance, you are the sole admin of this group:

No need to pass judgment so summarily, nor to offer as a truth what is only your opinion (and a pleonastic one, at that). If very few people (admins and mods) are affected by the bug, but it prevents them from doing things that benefit the entire community of their group members (such as policing groups against undesirable behavior), then the impact of the bug is much bigger. Your view of how many people are affected by this is not right, in my opinion.

Perhaps apply your words to your own words. It's an eight day old thread and bug, there are other bugs affecting an equal number of members that have been unresolved for months.

Not only can I not search for members....but I have issues with changing the group cover photo and icon.

Basically when I try and scroll through the window that populates the photos to be chosen from for the group photo..it will only scroll so far...then the select button disappears...you have to try and scroll some more to get the select button back. After trying to move the scroll bar up and down for 5 min trying to look for a photo to select (the photos keep moving so you can's see them) the scroll function finally stops working. I then have to "X" out and try again..at which point I can "sometimes" then select a photo and get the select button and change the group cover. This issue also happens when trying to change the group icon. This issue started at the same time the issue with the missing search function also occurred.

It has to be the actual "pool" page, not just the group "main page".

You have to hover your mouse over a photo on the pool page to see the three-dots. They are in the upper-right corner, dangerously close to the 'X' for removing the photo.

the actual "pool" page
And they only show if you use the newer group view, not the deprecated one.

Ah yes. I always forget about that page, having given up the old one a thousand million years ago when it was deprecated.

The missing Search box is causing a huge problem. Group Admins need that in order to search for specific members.
Plus, the Member page only shows 1 page, those members who were admitted this year.

Again here are the two work arounds that have been helpful. If you have any questions on making these work, please message me.

You can remove members by using the three dots that show on a photo in the upper right of the photos they have in the group. To find photos that a member has placed in the group, please use this formula. Place a period where you see the word "dot."

www(dot)flickr(dot)com/groups/(groupname)/pool/(member URL ID)
The easiest way to start is by clicking on the group's "Photos" Tab and then just copying and pasting the member's URL ID at the end after the slash. For example: www(dot)flickr(dot)com/groups/(groupname or number)/pool/

This isn't their member name but the unique URL ID in the url link at the top of their photo stream page. Unless the member has created their own unique ID, then their URL ID has numbers then the @ sign then a letter followed by two numbers.

The best way to find that URL ID is to look at the member's photo stream page because their URL ID will be at the end of the link.
For example, www(dot)flickr(dot)com/photos/URL ID Then copy only what is after "photos/" and paste that after "pool/' in the group's "Photos" tab link.

It will look something like this:
www(dot)flickr(dot)com/groups/(groupname or number)/pool/URL ID
After you hit enter on your keyboard, all their photos they have in your group will show. You can eliminate photos that don't fit by clicking on the X in the right hand corner, or click on the three dots to the left of the X. There will be four options: to ban member, to ban and remove photos, to remove member or to remove photos and member.

To view other pages, this work around has been helping:

Insert your group name and page number where indicated. Place a period where you see (dot)

www(dot)flickr(dot)com/groups/(nameofgroup)/admin/members/?page=(page number)

Again if anyone has trouble using this method, please feel free to message me and I can help. -Kat

I do not need convoluted workarounds and url-hacks.

What I expect of any professional company is to fix it ASAP.
Why on earth is it broken in the first place all of a sudden?
If this is hard to fix, the site will be in a lot of turmoil still.

And is it really so difficult to show up here every 2 or 3 days to give a staff update? Even 'still working on it' would do.

But hey, were just paying customers, who cares about our opinion anyway?
